"A Feast for the Soul"

For the past three years, youth leaders from across the country have gathered for a time of spiritual refreshment, learning and networking at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY. Join Br. Randy Greve, Jenifer Gamber and Fran McKendree in September 2010 for "A Feast for the Soul." Our time together will focus on the prayer as the heart of our lives and the lives of the youth we serve. Through worship, music, conversation and meditations we will explore a variety of spiritual disciplines that ground our life and ministry.  Come and explore within the peace of a monastic setting.

Cost: $300  (deposit $80), includes program, single-occupancy room, and gourmet meals from Tuesday supper through Friday lunch. Call 845-384-6660 x3002 or e-mail gueshouse@hcmnet.org to make reservations. Space is limited.

I knew it would be spiritual, but it was way more than that! It was a lovely time of peace, to be centered, and aware of all God's creation, joy, and love the entire time. ~Jennifer Scales, Kennett Square, PA

This retreat is unique in that it focuses on the leaders' spirituality and then how that can be used with youth. ~Sarah Freeman, Dallas, TX

The retreat is a transformational approach to work with youth and encourages me that I am not alone as a youth leader. Ferina Moses, New York, New York

[After coming for three years to this retreat] I have submitted my application to become an Associate of the OHC.  Barry Norris, Pennsburg, PA

Worship
We begin the day with Matins and during the morning we celebrate the Holy Eucharist. At noon, we gather again in the church for Diurnum and our work day closes with Vespers. After dinner, we participate in Compline in anticipation of God's care through the night.
Music
Singer/songwriter Fran McKendree leads the group in song throughout the day and into the evening. Each evening before Compline we engage in meditative practices that you can bring back to the youth at your church.
Conversation
In the mornings we learn about the Rule of St. Benedict and consider how to apply it to our own lives. Through  lectio divina we explore scripture and share our stories.  The afternoon offers more time for sharing,  and quiet for personal reflection.
