About us

Practices

O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and light rises up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have us to do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices, and that in your light we may see light, and in your straight path may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, page 832).

♦ Stillness and Silence
Silence can be frightening. One young person said, "I don't know what to do with silence. I always have music or the television on, even if I'm alone and have no one to talk to." Does this sound familiar?

♦ Keeping the Sabbath
The word Sabbath is derived from the Hebrew word shavat, meaning "to cease and desist." This definition gives us some indication of what Sabbath is all about.

♦ Stewardship of Creation and Time
A good steward is one who takes special care to use all things wisely. One can be a steward of money and use it well in saving, spending, and giving. We are good stewards of the earth when we strive to keep it clean and care for all creation in a way that will help it to last.

♦ Living Simply
Living simply is not about deciding to get your life under control but about giving control of your life to God.

♦ Spiritual Friendship
Most of us have friends with whom we enjoy hanging out, but what takes a friendship to a deeper level?

♦ Ordination
Have you ever felt called to ministry? Perhaps someone has asked you that question. Maybe you've wondered about it yourself.

♦ Forgiveness
Through this gift of forgiveness, God throws away the scorecard and declares that everyone wins.

♦ Grieving
Arguing with God and singing songs of lament are powerful ways to deal with the loss of a loved one.

♦ Truth
The church is a community of people who seek to live truthfully. For Christians, how we live is closely related to what we believe.

♦ Work
The very first story in the Bible describes the creation of the universe as "the work that God did." And throughout the story of God's care for our world, we hear God's activity described as "work" again and again.
